Information for Spain - Local Government
The Local Government of Spain operates on a 3 tier system of 17 Regions (Communidades Autonomas) and 50 Provinces which are in turn split into towns or groups of villages.

The regions of Spain have a high level of automony and each has it's own parliament. To see a map of the Administrative Regions click here.

Each Province of Spain is administered by a Council and each of the towns or group of villages have their own elected mayor and are administered by the local Town Council (Ayuntamiento).
