Information for Spain - Telephone
There are coin and card Payphones in Spain. Mostly run by the Spanish telephone company called Telefonica but it no longer has a monopoly.

Telephone cards are called tarjeta de telefonicas and are readily available at tobacconists and newsagents.

You will find telephones in public boxes (cabinas) and in most bars. As well as the boxes where you pay in advance by coin or card you will also find, especially in places of high tourism, offices called 'locutorios' with rows of telephones where you can make a call and pay as you leave which does save you having to hoard coins for the telephone. Watch out for those run by Telefonica as these tend to be cheaper than the other locutorios.

The international dialling code from Spain is 07 followed by the Country Code (44 for the UK). Don't forget to omit the leading 0 from the area code of the number you are calling.
